PRIVACY
Privacy Policy
Sterling Confidential is built to respect your privacy. This page explains what we collect, why, and what we do not do. It is written in plain language; if anything is unclear, email us at the address below.
The short version
We do not sell your personal information. We do not run intrusive ad trackers. The site is a static publication, and we collect as little as possible: anonymous, aggregate traffic statistics, and — only if you choose to give it — your email address for our newsletter.
What we collect
Anonymous analytics. We use privacy-friendly, cookieless web analytics to understand which dossiers are read and roughly where readers come from. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally.
Newsletter email. If you sign up for The Sterling Brief, we store the email address you provide so we can send the newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, after which we remove your address.
Server logs. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes standard technical information such as IP address and browser type to deliver and secure the site. This is handled under Cloudflare’s own privacy terms.
Affiliate links
Some links on this site are affiliate links, including Amazon. When you click one, the destination retailer may set its own cookies to attribute a purchase. That activity is governed by the retailer’s privacy policy, not ours. See our Affiliate Disclosure for how this works.
What we do not do
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not build advertising profiles on you. We do not use the newsletter list for anything other than sending the newsletter.
Your choices
You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time, and you can ask us what data we hold about you or request its deletion. Because we collect so little, this is usually quick.
Contact
Questions about privacy, or a request about your data, can be sent to [email protected].
This policy may be updated as the site grows; the “last updated” date above always reflects the current version.
